In seminar 3 we discussed what made a good advert. We analyzed four self-made ad posters, focusing on how design elements like color, spacing, text, and visual center create attractive ads. We mainly discussed target audience, pricing, and the connection between objects.
We started with a poster about the Bahamas. We talked about its strong visual arrows effectively guided viewers, and the color palette of white and teal that was comfortable to the eye. There was some debate on who the main audience was but settled on wealthy buyers. There was a main point on how the pricing as too high and too direct. Many people suggested the discount to be bigger.
The second poster showed a night scene in Japan with a man at the center. We thought a lot of key information was missing. I thought the color choice for the words was not ideal it blended to much with the background making it difficult for the reader to see.and suggested adding a border to the words.
The third poster was a Hawaii vacation, it had a lot of pros like the catchy slogan and correct information but the words had a few grammar mistakes and it wasn’t very eye catching the colors were a bit too similar
The forth poster, was ski resort add we were pretty satisfied with this one, it had the most information of the four including the activities, phone number, and resort. Though some people said the background color was to similar to the white words
Regarding seminar organization, the leaders had a written speaker order to avoid forgotten turns and it work overall pretty well. Although this worked well it kind of slowed the discussion because we had to constantly look at who was next also limiting the add-ons to each point.
