Our seminar this time was about Literary Travel Quotes, at first i didnāt think much of it and thought it would just be a discussion of how the background of the author connects to what he wrote or some generic stuff like that, but i was completely mistaken.
This seminar was really fun but also complicated, it wasnāt just a discussion of the authorās writing skills but looking at the authorās view on life. Iād like to share my thoughts through points we talked about.
During the discussion of āBetween starting a journey and continuing a journey which one is harder and more importantā, I had this argument in favor of continuing a journey being more important. Travel needs ambition and purpose it gives you that fighting spirit to commit to your journey knowing thereās an end goal that you can work towards, so āWould you still continue the journey even if you couldnāt see a clear finish line?ā Starting the journey, you can see the goal you want to work towards and gets you fired up to begin, Terry gave an example of āitās easier to start going to the gym than going to the gym multiple timesā.
Without the fighting spirit how would you get through the hardships along the path you take? Without being able to see the end how could you make sure you donāt give up half-way? Itās like doing a 5 minute plank without being able to see the clock, you are forced to give it everything you have and hope itās enough.Ā This was my counter argument against the people saying that at the end of a journey there will be a prize or benefit, most people donāt put in effortĀ for the process but for the results, itās the working process that builds you as a person not what you get at the end.
Next seminar I think having three leaders I kind of a waste, during this only seminar only Grace was speaking while the other 2 couldnāt talk that much I think itās better to just have 1 leader who controls everything. Also, I think the leader/ leaders should encourage more people to speak and call on them, check more with the teacher for speaking times.
Maybe you could have connected some of your thoughts to the quotes like you did in the seminar.
I’m not convinced by your last paragraph as it may have been the personalities of the leaders in that seminar that meant they didn’t join in much. Let’s see how other leader groups manage things and then discuss your ideas with more evidence š
