The first time Iβve ever heard of the word βdark tourismβ was when I was preparing for WSCβ¦ I never thought travelling to such places around the world had a specific name to them π·οΈ.
You could guess the (slight) excitement I had when I heard weβll be doing a seminar on this. If I were to be honest, this is probably the most interesting seminar. Lots of thanks to the leaders, the way they had two different perspectives from two different people to let us explore this topic is brand new, and very successful.
Now letβs share my opinion on this. Honestly I donβt see that many problems travelling to these places. You can learn history and broaden your knowledgeπͺπͺ. However, some may think itβs unethical to do so since people might disrespect the dead ones or mock the history. Everyone has biases on historical events, but itβs unethical to express it publicly as it will offend or even trigger people. Personally I think the local government should impose sanctions to people who disrespect the dark tourism spots π‘π‘.
overall, I think dark tourism is cool ππββοΈ
Nice shout out to the leaders. I agree that their idea of role-playing different perspectives made the discussion more interesting. Hopefully they’ll read your reflection and gain some confidence from that observation.
Is ‘col’ an appropriate adjective to describe dark tourism? π
