Travel blog by Oscar

When the May holiday came this year, our family traveled on the first few days like usual, and this time we went to Xisai mountain in the Huzhou district.

We went there on Thursday, right after school ends, the trip it self wasn’t long, only a small 120 kilometers or so, but the trip itself took about 3 hours in total due to the traffic, so we arrived at 10pm or so in the evening, and in the end had to sleep right after arrival, which I found a bit dissapointing.(obviously, as we thought we would arrive there before 8 pm).

On the second day, I finally got the chance to actually explore Xisai mountain when we took an early hike on it, and even though it wasn’t all that long, it was still really interesting as I got to know the natural enviornment of the Xisai mountain, or at least the bits we were allowed to go near the hotel, and it was overall really interesting since we spent a long time going around on a relevantly short trail, and I got the chance to look around carefully (the trail was mainly in a bamboo forest so none of the bigger animals came out during day, and only smaller animals came out during the daytime) . For example, if you had enough time like me and looked around carefully, you would notice some smallish birds with long tails resting about 20 meters off the ground in the leaves of the bamboo. There are also a lot of notably sized holes littering the ground near hills in the forests, bellonging to bamboo rats (a kind of rat that looks like a mole, as I later learned). Also, from what I noticed when I was looking at the birds in the bamboo, there are also lots of small insects living on the surface and leaves of the bamboo, such as small spiders and beetles. Overall the bamboo forest my family hiked trough was full of life and interesting, but in a miniscule way.

On the afternoon of that day, we origeonally planed for a hike on the Luyu trail, but I felt like staying in the hotel, partly because I had homework to do, and partly because I was feeling lazy at the time, and from all I heard from my parents who went there, the trail was a really interesting place with lots of wildlife (and mosquitos), and I kind of regret not going there with them now.

In the end, I left Xisai mountain with my parents after staying there for 2 nights, with some interesting memories, and a bag of almost untouched homework (WHY THE HECK DO WE EVEN HAVE HOMEWORK FOR HOLIDAYS?!?!?). But anyways, the place was interesting, with a very good natural enviornment, but I didn’t get the chance to explore it as much as I wanted, as we didn’t really have a lot of time in the holiday (sadly), therefore I would like another chance to go there sometime later to explore the place some more.

FINAL NOTE: this is the final version of my blog, therefore PLZ use this version mainly in the upcoming seminar THX
