The Hibernator Alpha 0.4.0 Pre-Release 1

The Hibernator 0.4.0 Pre-Release 1 is out.

This update adds a new 5‑slot item system, Items (Chocolate Bars, Granola Bars, Sodas, Health Kits, Ammo), a swap pickup mechanic, brighter mazes, improved mobile controls, per‑level Classic scoring, and fixes the impossible critical bug.

Additions
– Added the slots 4-8 (5 slots) for Items. Selecting an empty slot shows “Nothing” / “No items yet”. Slot 3 is reserved for Health Kits
– Added the following items: Chocolate Bar – temporary infinite stamina. Granola Bar – temporary speed boost. Soda – pushes enemies back (knockback). Ammo – Gives one magazine of ammo (e.g. 6 bullets).
– Added PDWGS item spawn tile for items to spawn
– Added Swap pickup mechanic: Empty slot → fill it. Full → swap with currently selected slot (if gun, flashlight, health kit, then swap with first item slot). Old item drops at pickup location.
– Added splash screen, loading screen, warning screen
– Added force-placed generators, making sure the maze generates with the proper amount of generators

Changes
– Made the Classic score calculated separately by level, and then add the 3 values up. Make the timer pause if the player goes to the Pause Menu.
– Made the maze overall brighter
– Made Mobile Support’s buttons better, and more player-friendly
– Added detection for phones and tablets
– Moved mobile support to Options
– Made most rooms have only one door
– Redesigned the default PDWGS structures to include logical item spawns in logical places
– Shown the stack number of health kits on the bottom-left of the slot
– Bookshelves now show as brown in the minimap instead of being invisible
– Reorganized the PDWGS tile system numbering
– When player velocity is 0, then the game treats it as if the player is stationary
– Changed the layout of the Mode Selection screen, and pagination hidden when only 1 page exists.
– Made all seeds have an equal chance of being rolled
– The game now should allow entering “-” in the seed input box

Fixes
– Fixed Sprite rendering issue (Sprites render the same size regardless of distance from player to sprite)
– Fixed generators sometimes spawn out of place that can’t be accessed

– Fixed the minimap and the environment show ghost sprites and tiles of fake items, generators, and exits when in the starting room
– Fixed cursor not detected issues and errors when in mobile
