“Tania, do you remember me? We used to build model rockets by the river. You said you’d take me to space one day.”

In the New Earth, people don’t keep their old memories. Before putting your mind into the system, you go through “memory cleaning.” It removes unnecessary things like childhood dreams, broken friendships, and feelings that don’t make sense.

I thought my memories were gone too. Until yesterday, I got a strange message. It came from Sector 3 on Old Earth. No one lives there anymore, it’s too dangerous. But the message still reached me, even with the system firewalls.

The sender said her name was Mige and she was my childhood friend. She described memories only I should know: the secret base in my garden and the spaceship I drew in my schoolbooks.And then she sent me something even stranger—a voice clip.

Two little girls are laughing. One of them says,

“One day, I’ll fly out of the solar system—and I’ll take you with me, Mige!”

It was my voice, but I have no memory of recording it.

Mige claims she never left Sector 3. That she’s been waiting for me ever since the Disaster. All official records say I left that place at the age of nine, and never returned. But she insists I never really left.  She says the system didn’t just clean my memory, it also split it and changed it. And now part of me is still in Sector 3.

Her last message said,

“You never left, Tania. Not the version of you that stayed with me. I see her every day.”

That’s when I got scared. I hacked into the system and checked the signal. After 10 hours, something weird came up. There’s another me still active in Sector 3, and she is traveling slowly in a walking pace to my location…[Terror]
