‘literary quotes’ seminar reflection

Our recent seminar was about travel literary quotes. The overall discussion was very engaging, and we delved deeper into the concept of travel, mainly focusing on the different stages of travel and the reasons for traveling.

During the first two classes, we focused on whether having the courage to start a journey or persevering through a journey is more important. At first, everyone thought that starting is more difficult, as you have to step out of your comfort zone. But as we progressed, people began to mention that the beginning of a journey is often motivated by excitement and hope, while maintaining the same attitude throughout is harder. I think this shift in opinions is really good for a seminar, as it allows us to consider different perspectives.

My performance in this seminar was not too good. I was more focused on listening to what others were saying and didn’t think much about what I could add. When I did come up with something to say, I couldn’t find any quotes to back it up. Next time, I think I should definitely prepare more useful evidence and try to speak up more.

The scores were not too good for everyone in the first two classes, as we didn’t analyze the quotes given thoroughly enough. The teachers were looking for more connection with the background and reasoning behind the quotes. In the next class, many people were able to get more high’s.

Our leaders were not too bad. Grace prepared many good questions and took charge pretty well by herself (the other two leaders didn’t really say much, and I don’t think they prepared questions either). A suggestion would be to write the questions more clearly on the board, because we were always asking what the question was multiple times.
