Itโs been a while
Itโs been a whileโ
The same hallway, a leased background.
Same talks, same shoes across the ground.
The tree greens for the third time,
Like it was during our first lines.
Ceremonies pass, projects finish.
Presentations complete, groups disband.
Rivalries settle, relationships change.
Seasons blur, time accelerates.
When it all comes back, itโs time for goodbyes.
Past feelings disappear, all just dry in our minds.
Thereโs no sadness, thereโs no joy.
Thereโs no standard answerโitโs your play.
The same hallway, a leased background.
Similar talks, different shoes across the ground.
The tree greens for their first time,
Like it was during our final lines.
The calendar flips back to September,
Shortly after, to June again.
The clock hands keep on spinning,
Just like the different people underneathโkeep moving.
Our same hallway, our shared background.
Blurry talks, treks across memory.
The tree blooms for our first time,
Like it was unnoticed every time.
Someone laughs, everyone knows.
Thereโs not much time left, the atmosphere knows.
If thereโs something to be said, say it now.
The chances are slipping, same for all around.
โItโs been a whileโ, I say at the exit.
Light shines upon me, blurring the black shadows.
Itโs 1:10, familiar figures disappear in the ever-unchanging summer sun.
Without shadow in memory, like a ghost.
The future is soon, be prepared.
Itโs been a while, have a rest.

Nice poem, I really like the repetition of the “same hallway” stanza
The line “the calender flips back to september” was especially powerful, I really enjoyed the personification of the calender.
Nicely expressed feedback ๐๐
The short time cycle line caught my attention too. “September,
Shortly after, to June again” – an academic year is just counting down to the next holiday, but it sure does become increasingly rapid, like that short line, as you get older.
Damn
