Yu cures the water is a chines myth about the big flood that happen in China long ago, the flood destroy villages and harm the life and crops of humans, Yao–the leader of China at that time, choose Kun, which is Yu’s dad, was chosen to cure the water, he built a dam, but it didn’t work, he was been killed because he didn’t cure the water successfully, this brings pressure to Yu, but the people of China needs him, he need to work, he learn what is the wrong thinge his father do, the dam collapse because of the to much pressure of the water, so he decided he will dig rivers to cure the water, the water will flow in the rivers instead of accumulate to much pressure in one place.
Yu cures the water day after day, nights after nights, he live in the open air, he once pass his home three times, one time, his baby had just born, he wanted to go inside and see his new born baby, but he need to cure the water fast so he didn’t have time. he cures the water for thirteen years, at last, the water is finally cured.
the story shows collaboration of humans in front of disasters it shows how people in different places work together, Yu was not a hero just as he was born, he learn and experience in the way, this tells us learning is important if you want to do something successfully, instead of building boats and run away, China people face the problem and solve it sucsessfully, this tell us that we need to face the problem inside of running away. the story connect to SDG goals number 17(freindship built through SDG goals) and number 2(no hunger).the story shares similar to:
