The Adze (Ewe people, Ghana/Togo)
A creature that can take the form of a firefly to travel at night. When captured, it reverts to human form. It is a vampiric being that feeds on the blood and life force of victims, particularly children, and is associated with the spread of disease. It is also said to possess people, forcing them to do its bidding.
The Encantado (Brazilian Amazon)
Shape-shifting river dolphins from Amazonian folklore. They can take human form, emerging from the water as charming, handsome men in white suits (who often hide their blowholes under hats). They are known for seducing humans, leading them to the underwater city of Encante, and causing madness or illness. They are associated with music, festivals, and glamour magic.
