Reflection on my own performance:
Score: 6 for “speaking”, 8 for “listening”
I expressed my thoughts a lot during the seminar, but most of them are not really related to the quotes (only answering the questions the leaders gave us). I think this is why I only got a 6 for my “speaking” part🥲 (you need the elaborate with the quotes to get “high”, and since I didn’t, I only got lows and middles). Next time I need to really understand the meaning behind the quotes and better connect them to my own ideas.
The leaders’ management:
Our leaders of this seminar was Olivia and Oscar. They did a great job on giving everyone the chance to participate (not just sitting around and do nothing) and also prepared a lot of excellent questions for us to dive deep into discussing. Moreover, most of the students got 6 7 and 8 which reflected the leaders’ amazing job on managing the seminar.
Reflection on the overall performance:
I also want to add a comment to our overall reflection. ELLA got 2 classes, and most times students are just expressing their own opinions upon the questions but not relating to the quotes (same as me). My experience of the seminar was like “everyone had a great time talking about their own stories and opinions, but no one really cared about they should be elaborating the quotes”. Yet some of them excellent students (Olivia, Astro, Eric…) did score some “high” and got deep insights into the quotes (worth learning from!).
More philosophical content related to the literary quotes discussed:
We discussed about the journey of life (is it sort of like traveling? If yes, is it only one long, whole journey or is it various small journeys stacked together?), and also “does dreams count as journeys”.
