Many students nowadays seem to be interested in the internet phenomena Italian Brainrot and Creepypasta. Let’s start with a couple of definitions.
Definitions
Italian Brainrot is a viral internet phenomenon erupting from platforms like TikTok that blends AI-generated content, surreal humor, and a bizarre aesthetic. It typically features weird anthropomorphic creatures like dancing sharks, talking pigeons, and pixelated cats.
Creepypasta is derived from the internet term copypasta which describes a piece of text that gets copied and pasted and shared around the internet. Originally creepypasta was just a horror themed version of copypasta, but now it has taken on the extended meaning of anecdotal creepy stories or horror and mystery shared online, including multimedia content and tales of cryptids.
Since this is so popular at the moment, it might be a nice idea to set up an area where students can share their own Italian Brainrot and Creepypasta creations here on Mushroom. In fact, there is a page set up to celebrate the world of weird and wonderful creatures, both real and unreal, here: https://mushroom-scholars.org/projects/the-magic-people/rescue-wildebeests-world-of-weird-creatures/
By way of example, here is my first attempt at creating what could perhaps be termed an AngloSino(Franco?) Brainrot:

Inspired by a couple of unusual posts by students (Brr Brr & Herobrine) and the apparently trendy word ‘skibidi‘ made famous by a peculiar toilet with an even more peculiar face in it, this is Skibidini Urinali. He is an anthropomorphic urinal with a permanently startled facial expression. He wanders frustratedly around Paris believing himself to be an awesomely innovative work of art, but he is not permitted inside any of the museums or art galleries, hence his frustration.
Looking forward to seeing your weird and wonderful creations 🙂
Nice!👍
