About “The Nerdy Gator Kid”

Dear Tank,

Please stop posting everything. On behalf of the Mushroom Community, I, Andrew, would like to let you know that you have been flooding Mushroom with your posts. G7 ELL are currently trying to discuss ideas about war poetry and I’m sure G6 and G8 are also trying to use the platform effectively. Now, everything relevant has been pushed down to the page 3 of the posts. So, please stop. If your goal is to reach Number 1 on the leaderboards, I must tell you that while you have done that, you’ve used a technique that we call “XP cheating,” and the last person who used the glitch basically got banned. I’m sure you would not like that. Furthermore, if you want to write a story, at least write longer chapters or just post it all at once, instead of posting the chapters one by one. Or, you could wait some time before posting every chapter. Whatever you do, please stop posting whatever you want whenever you have. This has caused great frustration for both the teachers and the students of OCAC. Thank you.

  1. Hi Andrew,

Thank you for reaching out and bringing this to my attention. I apologize for the frustration my posting frequency has caused the Mushroom Community and OCAC classes.

I was not aware that the volume of my posts was pushing down relevant discussions for G6, G7, and G8. That was never my intention. My goal was simply to share a story I was excited about, and I didn’t realize the platform’s mechanics would interpret this as a glitch or “XP cheating.”

I will immediately space out my future posts significantly. I will also consolidate my story into longer chapters or post them in larger batches to avoid flooding the feed.

Again, I apologize for the disruption. Thank you for letting me know.

    Best,
    Tank 🐊

  2. It’s true all those short posts have temporarily made it tricky to find new posts but at the same time, we want to encourage The Nerdy Gator Kid‘s enthusiasm 😉

I am in the process of updating the landing page on log-in to make it a bit easier to find stuff (hopefully will be completed this weekend but might be a delay until next week).

There is also something of a trade off with the short posts strategy. As Bilbo Baggins of the Shire pointed out, it is a bit frustrating to read them, so what is gained in XP may well be lost in terms of engagement and likes.
