A blog post that is not about Hangzhou.

Since I did not go on the trip to Hangzhou, I am going to talk about my vacation in York instead.

First, I am going to talk about the York Art Gallery, which is truly impressive. The gallery houses an extensive art collection, including works by renowned artists. We have spend hours admiring the paintings, sculptures, and ceramics, each piece telling its own story. The diversity and quality of the exhibits were breathtaking, making it a highlight of our visit. The art I remember the most is the plate drawn by Picasso, the gallery just put the plate really randomly, however, if the plate were in China it would show in a very dramatic way.

We also visited Clifford’s Tower, a historic landmark with a rich past. Originally built by William the Conqueror, it has served many purposes over the centuries, including as a royal mint and a Civil War garrison. We were lucky to get inside just before it closed for the day. Standing at the top, we enjoyed panoramic views of York, which were simply stunning. And we are able to see the whole York by standing on the terrace, which is so beautiful, I have taken lots of pictures! The history embedded in its walls was palpable, making our visit both educational and memorable.

York is reputed to be the most haunted city in Europe, and this rich tradition of ghost storytelling adds a unique charm to the city. We embraced this aspect by visiting the York Ghost Merchants. The shop, known for its handcrafted ghosts, was a delightful experience. Each ghost figurine was unique and incredibly cute. Despite having to lined up for almost an hour to get inside, the visit was well worth it. The shop’s whimsical and eerie atmosphere perfectly captured the spirit of York’s haunted reputation. We have also been to a ghost walk but it was actually really boring, and I feel like the adult that are screaming is just so stuipddddddddddd.

In addition to these attractions, we wandered through York’s narrow, cobblestone streets, exploring its many other historic sites and charming shops. Each corner of the city seemed to hold a new discovery, from ancient buildings to quaint tea rooms. York’s blend of history, culture, and ghostly lore made for an unforgettable vacation, filled with both educational and fun experiences.
