We Must Stop Hunger in India (and everywhere else!)

SGD #1 and #2 (No Poverty and Zero Hunger)

Problem: Food is a necessity for everyday life but for many people around the world they don’t have this and go to sleep hungry and malnourished every night. This a huge problem around the world especially in India which has over 190 million people who go hungry every single day. If we as a community don’t do anything about this, billions of innocent lives will be taken by the cruel effects of malnutrition. We have to do something.

Reason: Poverty is one of the biggest reasons of hunger in India. People in poverty often suffer everyday because of the lack of money which leads to people unable to buy food. A ton of food is also wasted or lost. Food loss refers to when food can’t get from farm to table successfully because of the lack of fridges/cool storage which leads to a higher risk of rotting which is a common problem in India. This food could have been for people in need. How can we fix this?

Solutions: We could donate to organizations working towards not only feeding people in poverty but to bring more people out of poverty. We could also educate more people about food waste/loss and about poverty. If we donate and educate people about hunger, we could be one step closer to achieving our goal of zero hunger. One person alone can’t solve this issue. We need everyone to work together to help stop hunger not only in India, but around the world.
