The Nexus Books

It all started when Tank hated books. He would not read a single page of the books. Tank said: “Lord of the Rings is boring!” No one knew why he hated them. But, this is the story when Tank started to like them.
It was at noon, when Tank and his friend Henry were going camping together. Then, they found a mysterious old book lying on the ground. They opened it, they felt a force pull them inside, soon Tank and Henry were both in the book.

“Where are we?” Henry asked, slowly opening his eyes. “I dunno, this place is magical!” The stoves are cooking by themselves!” said Tank. “Looks like we are no longer in the world we were in a few seconds ago.” said Henry. “Wait, there’s a door over there! Let’s open it!” says Tank. Henry hesitated for a second, then nodded. As Tank pushed the door open, Henry’s eyes grew wide,” Tank……you’ve got to see this.” said Henry. Tank went to the front of the door, “this is the most coolest place ever!” there were all kinds of creature there all on the sidewalk, there were tall futuristic building and flying spaceships everywhere. Then, they heard footsteps.

Tank tensed up, grabbing Henry’s are. “Hide!” he hissed, they ducked behind a mushroom table. Then, they saw a little hobbit come in the room, ” hello guys no need to afraid of, my name’s Noah, I’m the owner of this house.” “Oh, I thought you were here to kill us!” said Henry “oh no!” Noah laughed “I found you two lying on the grass in fiction town Central Park, so then i took you back here to rest. ” fiction town Central Park? Where’s that?” said Tank ” oh, yeah i forgot to mention that, your in the Nexus Book, where every fantasy book spills to one place. Anywho, let me take you outside for a look.” “Yes sirrrr!”

When they went out, Tank’s jaw dropped, the “street” was a winding path made of glowing storybook pages, and above them, floating islands held castles from “Game of Thrones” and treehouses straight out of “The Hobbit”. A group of centaurs laughed as they passed, carrying armfuls of giant strawberries. Then, a dwarf came by, the first one said:” hi Noah, who are these guys, they look unfamiliar.” “Oh them?” said Noah ” they are humans I found on the Central Park, they are Tank and Henry.” “I’m Gimble I never saw humans unless they are wizards.” “True,” said Noah “they fell from the outside world.” “Come on, let me show you around these places!” Noah pointed out character from books Tank had once scoffed at: a wizard with a long white beard like Gandalf, even a group of kids on a quest with a talking leopard. “Every book’s a door to a new world,” said Noah, as they watched a dragon breathing fire up above. “You just have be willing to turn the page.”

Tank stared at the dragon, then at Henry-who was busy asking Gimble about the characters in the books he read to check if they are real. For the first time Tank didn’t find the books boring, he thought they were demonic. Later, Noah took them back to where they’d first arrive, “it’s time to get you home, but remember to come back!” He said, handing Tank the Nexus book. “Thanks Noah, this was amazing.” Then they waved goodbye

When they got transported back to the woods, the time didn’t change. The Nexus book still lay in Tank’s hands. Henry was still chatting crazily about he dwarves and wizards, but Tank didn’t say anything, still staring at the book. That night, when they went back to camp, Tank started his first fantasy book in three months, the Nexus book, but this time, it wasn’t boring, not at all. And this time, Tank can’t wait to turn the next page.

From that day on, Tank loved fantasy books. He spent hours reading books, lost in the world of fantasy. Whenever someone said,” books are boring,” Tank would pull out the Nexus book and say, ” no they aren’t, they are just waiting for you to step inside.”
