It starts well with your description of the humans from an alternative perspective and then you problematise the relationship and simultaneously propel your brief narrative into the future. You’ve communicated quite a lot in just a few short paragraphs – great stuff! Your use of references in conjunction with a chatty and opinionated tone is an interesting touch and you’ve added some kind of embedded box for the references at the end which is also quite interesting 🙂

Minor language point: “give out” maybe “surrendering” or “give up” would be better?
