Seminar 6 Reflection (Dark Tourism)

In our seminar on dark tourism, we focused on Chernobyl and used a new format: a role-play inspired by murder mystery games. Instead of a traditional debate, we asked the audience to step into the thoughts of two fictional characters, a serious filmmaker and a viral influencer , to discuss the ethics of visiting tragic places. This method made the discussion more engaging. We weren’t just giving opinions, but thinking critically through a character’s perspective.

As the seminar leader, I realized that clear structure and thoughtful guidance are key to a successful discussion. Designing an interactive format like this was a new experience for me, and I saw how creative approaches can help participants think more deeply. Next time, I would provide roles and background information earlier so that the discussion could run even more smoothly.
