This is an extension of The Hunger Games

part one:D

Cato managed a peek outside, just like always you could hear all the muttations whimpering and growling, you could even see some of them.  Cato noticed something new, a glass tank filled with neon colored snakes, similar to the mutts who almost killed him, they had the eyes off the dead tributes. He raised his eyebrows a bit as he catches a gaze, he didn’t have to search his mind for who that was, “Oh, that’s Thresh ” ,”good,” he thought, “material for tonights nightmares”.

Cato woke up locked in this room a few weeks ago since the games ended. The first few weeks, the curtains on his window were drawn, he was strapped to his bed while tubes pumped fluids in and out of him. He was accompanied by machines jumping numbers which he does not understand.

Everyone thought he had died, even himself, but when the doctors on the hovercraft checked him, he still had a hint off life. They say it’s a miracle, “But really,” he’d think time to time, it was against his wishes to be alive, suffering, he wanted to be in his own district .”Death” he thought, his situation right now is much worse than being dead. They gave him Morphling, off course, but at the moment, he took so much the affect is fading.

He used his time thinking, not about the games, no, never about the games, the only thought he could bear about the topic are the winners, kids from twelve. “Guess she and lover boy won the games” he’d mutter to himself, “Only……so easily ” he thought, then he shook his head in disbelief, it’s not his problem, not anymore since he left the games.

Cato didn’t know when and how he drifted off, his dreams were twisted as always but tonight, slightly less tormenting. Before the muttations took off his limbs, the sound of ringing bells pulled him out. Someone was ringing a bell behind the doors of his room.

(if I have time, I will do part two:)

  1. ” muttations”? Is this connected to the “mutts”? Maybe you could add a bit of context at the start for those of us who haven’t read The Hunger Games 🙄 Anyway, I looked it up and discovered they are genetically modified monsters of various sorts. I’d like to see a picture of the muttations – I imagine a mutated dog (mutt) – maybe like Muttley.

Is “morphling” something like morphine? Similar sound.

It’s interesting but I feel like I need more context to really understand this. Also, I’m not clear how this relates to our topic of travel, although it is evident that Cato has been on some kind of journey with his suffering.

Language/formatting note: Remember the ‘new speaker – new line’ rule when presenting dialogue otherwise it can get confusing for your reader.
