How?
That is my one question as I stare towards the wall in my room.
How did I come here?
Yesterday I woke up in this room, and so far, nobody has even came to see me. The room has a bed, a bookshelf, a table, and a door, but no windows. I hear machines whirring around me, but clearly, there are no machines in my room. I also found a camouflaged camera, hidden in the corner of my room.
I curse. Surely someone —or some thing— would hear me, right?
Turns out, I’m wrong.
I kick at the door, trying to be noticed, until the door breaks, shattering into a thousand pieces. I run outside, finding an odd world.
I see skyscrapers looming above me, high-tech vehicles swerving to avoid collisions. All of this is happening while I, a child, stands on the ground.
The ground! I look around and see more of these little huts, lined up perfectly in a circle, its center being the city.
“Hi,” I hear someone say. I jump. “Oh, um, hello?” I ask cautiously.
“Greetings, human. We do see many visitors these days. The machine answers.
“Oh, I don’t know how I came here. Is this some kind of magic?” I ask
“No. This is not magic.” It laughs a kind of mechanical sound, but still bringing a resemblance to a regular human voice. “This is technology. We built this city eons ago, with only the basic tools. I do not know how my kind first came to this place, nor how it was built, but we live here, and we are happy.”
“Wow,” I say, “can you tell me some information about this world?”
“Of course. The current date is March 28, year 2814. Time right now is one thirty-eight PM. The location i—”
“Wait. Are you saying that we are in the year 2814?” I interrupt.
“Yes. I repeat, the current date is March 28, 2814. We are in the city of Los Angeles. There are 8,285,103,756 residents in this city right now, and it takes up 19,758 square kilometers. We are 28,379 meters away from the city square, and the location for us is 34.017362, -118.261463.”
“Whoa. How do you know so much? I mean, what are you?”
“I am Artificial Intelligence Model type 872, Artificial Intelligence serial number 2,917,493,749. There are billions more models like me, and there are currently 1,749 different model types. You can say I am only one out of a million.” It laughs that mechanical, odd laugh again.
“Can you tell me why I am here?”
“You are brought here by scientists who want to study humans from the past. Their body structure is very different from humans now. Alas, we do not know what caused the change. That is all I am allowed to say.”
“Hi, My name is Matt. What’s your name? Can you show me this new world?”
“Of course!” it says. “As I told you, I am Artificial Intelligence serial number 2,917,493,749. Let me show you the cit—”
Suddenly, it shuts down. The lights in its eyes go out, and it falls to the ground without power.
“Don’t move!” shouts a voice loudly. “Put your hands up!”
I do as told.
But I suddenly recognize that voice.
“Dennis?”
So this is chapter one and (hopefully) I’m going to write chapter 2 soon.
Thanks for all the praise. Would you mind to give a score out of 8 like the MYP? Also, I
‘m currently working on chapter 2. Hopefully, it’ll be out soon
Engaging stuff and I’m looking forward to chapter 2. maybe you can work on the title?
Nice. I don’t really know what else to say about it.
