I don’t know if anyone has played this game, but actually, this is very fun. By the way, it’s called “Murder”.
However, I’m not going to go off about games, because this is a bit inappropriate here.
The picture above shows a little man wearing an evil smile, holding a dagger and following the king around the castle. You’ll need to stab the king at the right time, without the king finding out you’re very suspicious—or that’ll be GAME OVER(sorry about this, can’t help mentioning that game😅. I’ll be back on the track). This is quite like the very famous play and tragedy in which Shakespeare wrote: Hamlet
The next picture above depicts a ghostly king flaring in the air, holding out his hand, looking anxious and dead dead(yes, you heard me right, “dead dead”). The real king, on the other hand, looks at the ghost with a terrified expression on his face. This again, strongly resembles the theme in Hamlet.
The story Hamlet which is one of my favourite plays in Shakespeare’s series starts from this:
Hamlet is the young prince of Denmark. His father, the old King Hamlet, has recently died, and his uncle Claudius has become the new king and married Hamlet’s mother, Gertrude. Hamlet is furious about this. One night, the ghost of his dead father (which we analyzed before in the last picture I’ve shown above) appears to him and tells him that Claudius murdered him by pouring poison into his ear while he was sleeping. The ghost asks Hamlet to take revenge. Hamlet planned a plot and decides to pretend to be mad so that he can find out the truth without being suspected. He arranges for a group of actors to perform a play that reenacts the king’s murder, and when Claudius reacts with fear and guilt, Hamlet knows the ghost is telling the truth. Later, Hamlet accidentally kills Polonius, the father of his beloved Ophelia, while arguing with his mother. Heartbroken and driven mad by her father’s death and Hamlet’s strange behavior, Ophelia drowns herself (which is made into a song:The Fate of Ophelia, as I have introduced in the post last time). Ophelia’s brother Laertes returns, filled with anger, and Claudius uses him to plot against Hamlet. They plan a fencing match in which Laertes will use a poisoned sword, and there will also be poisoned wine ready for Hamlet. During the duel, Hamlet is wounded by the poisoned sword. The queen mistakenly drinks the poisoned wine and dies. Hamlet and Laertes exchange swords, and Hamlet wounds Laertes as well. Before they all die, Laertes confesses the truth, and Hamlet finally stabs Claudius and forces him to drink the poison, avenging his father’s death. In the end, almost all the main characters die, leaving only Hamlet’s loyal friend Horatio to tell the whole story.
So that is how the big, famous, creative, intriguing tragedy works. So did you find out about how the story connects with the game I’ve shown you before? It’s really a great coincidence!
I like the game graphics. Nice big cartoon characters 😀
This is a cool connection to Hamlet! Claudius would have been great at this game.
Great! But I think you could make more connections from the game to the play and explain it more. It would be better then!
Feel free to comment and share your ideas about the game and also the play and story I have included here, thanks for the feedback and support too!
