I am Ready!

When I woke up, everything changed. The skyline of the city was no longer the familiar silhouette I remembered. Instead, it was a landscape of scorched earth and shattered debris. Flames raged in the distance, smoke blanketing the horizon, and dust danced in the air, casting a dim pall over the sunlight. Just when I thought this dark world was going to crush me, a light suddenly shone in, piercing my eyes like lightning. I slowly dragged my heavy body up from the ground, staggering toward the light. “What is this light? Can it save me?” Voices echoed in my mind. As consciousness began to blur, the shape of the light finally became clear.

Shoked, feared, outraged. My legs were jelly now. A towering robot, nearly 2.5m tall, stood before me on the landscape. Metallic frame coverd its whole body and reflected the sun’s rays, causing an inspiring glow across the horizon, shinning the world. Memmories surged into my mind — Through the development of AI, the world began to produce more and nore robots to participate in our daily lives and continuously strengthen their systems. However, just two days before today, the robots suddenly all had their own consciousness and started to occupy the Earth. And that’s why now the world was so chaotic. They were all destroyed by the robots.

I stared at the “enemy” in front of me. He didn’t realized me yet. I was sure I was the one of the few people that were still alive in this world because time flies and I didn’t see anyone except me. Resisting to stay with this robot anymore, the only thing that I could do was run. Unfortunately, as I was running backwards I didn’t notice there were many big metal pieces so I tripped over and the metal pieces were kicked out by my foot.

“Clang!”

The robot slowly turned his head around, then his body. I felt something grabbed my neck and picked me up like a little chicken. Until my eyes met another pair, different but level with mine, I realized I was being lifted by the robot, settling into the palm of its hand.

Humans are so fragile, but I won’t gonna hurt you.” Is it my imagination? I thought I see something that is warm and floating in his cold, metallic eyes.

“I’m not like other robots. I’m here to save the world and peace with your guys.” He blinked his eyes to me, I could see he was smiling, cryptically.

“Alright. So what’s going on now?”

“You are the first human I saw and saved, I’m not sure whether there is more or no people left. But anyways, at least you are safe. ” He started walking and suddenly jumped high. I closed my eyes again and when I opened my eyes we were in a new place. It was gorgeuos, unlike the world.

“Where are we?” I asked.

“In my spacecraft.”

“You have your own spacecraft? That’s awesome, I thought this thing is made for a group of aliens…

Wait. Are you sure you are a robot?”

“I never said that. Maybe I am an alien in a robot’s body.”

“Why are you guys participating in this ‘war between robots and humans’? ”

He didn’t answer me. He arrived at the launch pad, his left hand gripping a lever, twisting hard to the right, while his other hand continuously pressed different buttons, red, green, and yellow. I felt dizzy, everything spinning. It wasn’t until the spaceship completed a 360-degree turn upwards that he spoke.

“So, welcome to space! Are you ready for the trip to save the world?”

  1. The start and end of this are superb!
There are a few spelling errors in your second paragraph, and grammar and minor punctuation errors in the more narrative parts of your writing. Nevertheless, you have successfully used this beginning of a story to establish the setting very effectively 🙂
