Long ago during the reign of Emperor Yao of the Tang Dynasty, Hou Yi shot down nine suns on Shewu Mountain in Jiangning. One of the suns fell into the belly of Tangshan Mountain, endowing it with an inexhaustible hot spring. The Tangshan Hot Spring remains a famous natural resource in Nanjing to this day, attracting a large number of domestic and foreign tourists.
