- During the Sabbatical year, which happens every 7 years, the land is to lie fallow with no planting of crops. Whatever grows naturally is free for everything: the rich, the poor, and even animals.
- During the Jubilee years, which happens every 50 years, the is also to lie fallow with no planting of crops. All Israelite slaves are freed, and sold land reverts back to their original owners.
The Sabbatical and Jubilee years are related to sustainability and globalization because they symbolize returning to nature and a throughout change of things. It is also connected to globalization because during the sabbatical and jubilee years, things are reversed, such as the plantings of crops. This symbolizes people helping another and coming together, as whatever grows is free for all life. We can also see globalization here, as business is better when they don’t grow crops. Sustainability is obtained through the SDG 1: “No Poverty”, because during the Sabbatical years, wealth and poverty does not matter.
I agree with Jianing – not much here and nothing about globalization or sustainability, although this is implied in the description of these two events.
