Greek Mythology Creation Story 3-2 The Titans

Second post today. Or at least I hope so. Enjoy.

At first, Chronos wasn’t so bad. He freed the Hundred Handed Ones and the Elder Cyclopes from Tartarus, which made Gaia happy. The monstrous guys turned out to be useful too. Turns out that they learned to build in Tartarus, but if you want to learn how to build stuff, I still won’t recommend it. In gratitude for their freedom, they constructed a massive palace for Chronos on top of Mt. Othrys, which back then was the highest mountain in Greece. The palace is made of void black marble, tall columns, and vast halls gleaming in the light of blue magic torches. Chronos’s throne is carved by a solid block of obsidian, decorated with gold and diamonds, which sounds pretty impressive, but probably isn’t very comfortable. Chronos would sit there all day, cackling evilly,”MINE, ALL MIME MUHAHAHAHA!” His siblings didn’t argue with him, they have found their favorite territory already. Besides after Chronos killed his father, they all decided getting on his bad side isn’t such a good idea.

In addition to being the lord of the cosmos, Chronos became the Titan of time. He can’t pop around the timeline like Dr. Who, but he can make time speed up or slow down. As for his brothers, four who helped with the murder was given the four corners of the earth. (Which is weird because the Greeks thought the world is a flat circle like a shield, so technically it don’t have corners but yeah.)

Krios is the titan south. He took the ram as his symbol, because the ram constellation always rise in the south. His navy blue armor was dotted with stars, and rams horns jutted from his helmet. Krios was the dark silent type. He would stand down there on the southern edge of the world, thinking deep thoughts. Or maybe he was just thinking why he couldn’t get a exciting job (Percy Jackson joke).

Koios, the titan of the north, lived at the opposite end of the world (obviously). He was sometimes called Polus, because he controlled the north pole. Koios is also the first titan to have the gift of prophecy. In fact, Koios literally means question, he could ask questions of the sky, and sometimes the sky would answer him. His glimpses of the future were so useful that other titans would come to him to ask burning questions like: Whats the weather going to be on saturday? Is Chronos gonna kill me today? What should I give mom for mother’s day? Questions like that.

Hyperion, titan of the east, was the flashiest of the four. Since the light of day comes from the east every morning, he called himself the Lord of Light. He wore blazing golden armor, and was known to burst into flames at random moments, which makes him fun at parties.

His counterpart, Iapetos, was more lade back, being the titan of the west. Despite this, you don’t want to get this guy mad at you, because he is a excellent fighter who knows how to use a spear. Iapetos literally means the piercer, and I’m 80% sure that he didn’t get that name by doing ear piercings at the mall.

As for the last brother, Oceanus, he took charge of the outer waters that circle the world. That’s why the big expanse of water bordering land came to be called Oceans.

Now before you go to the next episode where I introduce the 6 female titans, lemme explain something.*Deep breath* See, eventually, the guy titans started thinking, hey, dad have Gaia for a wife, who do we have for wives? Then, they turned to the female titans and thought, hmmm… I know gross. But here me out. First of all, the rules of behavior was looser back then. Also, there weren’t a lot of choices when i comes to marriage. Most importantly, immortals are just different from humans. They have ichor instead of blood and DNA. Or maybe the titans are just freaks. You decide.
