Good
Group 1 (Ian’s group)
Almost everything
The spotlight
A nice PPT (There is also a story made up of connected pictures in it, which is really creative.)
Sound effects + music
Especially amazing puppets
Super emotional dubbing + perfect puppet movements
Group 2 (Terry’s group)
The PPT (Especially the 3D modeled harpy)
Group 3(Astro’s group)
The puppets are quite nice.
Spreading grass powder on the stage as decoration before the performance had a good effect (It was not so good when cleaning up though).
The sound effects and props are also good.
Astro saved the emergency situation extremely perfect . (Wohoo!)
Rubbish
Group 1 (Ian’s group)
The stage is of poor quality (It’s cracked and bent) (But yeah, actually I made it).
The spotlight shone on the wrong person for a short while.
Prospero appeared a couple of lines late in one part.
The entrance of the Harpy was decided at the last minute and we didn’t try it out, so it was a bit of a mess (There was still a bit of a comedic effect; although it shouldn’t have been like that).
Group 2 (Terry’s group)
The shapes are too much like robots (it’s even the human shape kind!) and don’t quite match the description in the original text.
The puppets could be made better. They look a bit too easy .
The fire escape preview is completely unnecessary. It takes up too much time and has no connection with this performance, also it’s in Chinese !
Sometimes the dubbing is not smooth and the emotions are not that full.
Group 3(Astro’s group)
First of all, there was a laughing fit during “harpy” talking . Everyone in the group laughed for at least 1 to 3 seconds, so there was no sound at that time.
The pillar in the stage actually affects the visual experience a lot (So the stage actually doesn’t need to be that big, because the two pillar in the middle is really annoying).
There are several pages of the PPT with too many words. The characters are small and packed, making them hard to see clearly.
What needs improvement
Group 1 (Ian’s group)
Since we are a extremely “efficient”group, the problem of not preparing in advance still needs to be fixed. Especially the decision about the characters’ entrance . We mainly didn’t expect that the rope couldn’t be cut at that time. But luckily someone laughed, so it didn’t end up in a complete failure.
Group 2 (Terry’s group)
Spend a little more time making the props and puppets .
Then practice the dubbing several more times and add some emotions.
Group 3(Astro’s group)
Although I know you guys can’t help it, try best not to have a laughing fit.
can think of a way to get rid of the pillar on the stage.
The text on several pages of the PPT can actually be made simpler, because it’s exactly the same as what the narrator says, so there’s no need to show it.
Wow! That is a very thorough reflective feedback 🙂
You picked up on some things that I missed. This will be really helpful for next year’s students when they do this task. 👍
