Seminar3: MYP JOURNEY reflection

We had a seminar on last Thursday, we talked about our MYP from many perspectives such as: Friendship, behaviors, achievements, skills and experiences from G6 to G8.

This seminar wasn’t as good as the last two, everyone is relatively quiet this time, and I only talked once( I can’t remember), so we didn’t get as much as useful points compare to the last two. And we only had 1 lesson for the seminar, we can’t built much on a question.

Now I’m going to talk about my thoughts in this blog post:

(Background information: I was in another school before G7 I came to OCAC, it’s not in Suzhou, but also an international school)

Friendship is very important to me  , no matter where I’m (so I’ll talk more from this perspective). But I left my original school, then came to OCAC, which means I have to build up new friendships, with people that were totally new to me. That was not really a big problem for me, because I’m a pretty extroverted person who likes to make friends.

Then, as expected, I did made a lot of friends and some became good friends, One thing made I a bit upset, I thought I can keep in touch with my friends in my original school, but in reality, they were like just gone, disappeared in my life like they never exist.  Except for that,  I had a great experience in G7, but everything changed when I came to G8.

Relationships between people became so difficult and everyone is messing around with it. The most terrible thing was that my friends in G7 don’t talk to me anymore, that REALLY made me felt upset again.

After all those things happened, I became more serious and careful in friendships, I don’t trust people easily. Also, I recognized “All you have is yourself”. Those unpleasant things had taught me a lesson, I learned you don’t easily trust anyone, and you got to learn on yourself without anybody standing beside you. (Also get used to be separated with my friends)

But actually I never had those interpersonal relationship problems when I’m in my original school. Because it’s an international school, so there were only 32 of us in a grade, we separated in to two classes, and we knew each other very well. Everyone is friend, even if they weren’t GOOD friends or besties, we still be nice and kind to each other. I’m actually not a person who likes to think about the past, but I really miss a lot my old- friendships!

For me, interpersonal relationship is different with friendship, it’s much more difficult than friendship. SO I got tired with interpersonal relationships, I don’t really care about how others think or feel.

However, in MYP journey, from the perspective of friendship, I did learned a lot, how to deal with different people, stay by myself, and had some wonderful friends now.

From other perspectives( behaviors, achievements, skills):The school focused more on these three perspectives.

Teachers always “threat” us with behavior notes, and that really work for us😃After that, we act like a normal human, behave in a right way. I did act pretty normal in each classes since G6, but I still break some of the rules that teachers and schools don’t really care a lot, and no one really cares about it. That’s where I can find some fun in my “boring school life”.

I did learned, earned a lot in my MYP journey. I met with different people, and became more proficient in interpersonal relationships, even though I always messed up. But I can also learn things from failing experiences, try to avoid them next time. In academic performances, I never imagined I can achieve what I’ve got now. I’m quite satisfied with my scores on report cards, but also looking forward to make more improvements. The most memorable part of MYP must be the COMMUNITY PROJECT EXHIBITION, we prepared it for an entire academic school year, and get a score. CP is already a meaningful thing, we practiced a lot of skills during the process, such as research, communication, think (basically our ATL SKILLS), it’s even more significant as our graduation project.

Memories in our MYP period will always be so precious, no matter good or bad, perhaps when we saw the photos many years later and think of what happened, we might feel so worth remembering them, and look back what we had done. Now, I’m looking forward to my next year of studying, and campus life, wish everything goes well in my high school learning. Always do things worth doing and willing to do.

  1. A mostly clear reflection despite a few language errors. I get the feeling you are still very much in the process of working out your feelings regarding friendships and interpersonal relationships, so good luck with that!

This seems to be a worthwhile motto so I hope it keeps you motivated at high school:

“Always do things worth doing and willing to do”
