Blog post 2: Why Travel? Seminar

We had a discussion on May 6th, which is one very meaningful and valuable class. Our classmates were preparing for their answers and try to find the most valuable informations and evidences for their answer. They were trying their best to structure their every answer and wait for the next class to speak perfectly and get high score.

I prepared some of the informations, but actually not related to the questions which made me disappointed, which basically means that I ,Nicolas and Kim were all not prepared. So actually we were not included in the seminar 🙁

However, even if I didn’t participate in the seminar, there’s still a few things that I want to talk about this topic in my perspective:

Advantages of travelling

1. Broaden your horizons – As the saying goes “The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page”, travelling is a kind of adventure that help us to see different scenes, different cultures and people. The way we meet the world is by travelling. Some people might say that we can see different views at home by looking at your phone, and watch news, but what if these are the facts that the producter want you to see, so maybe that kind of world is not what the reality is. But by go travelling, your can see different kind of cultures, and see the views using your own eyes, enjoy that time, and that would also help you with your mindset and make you experienced.

2.Make you confident – Travelling is not one hundred percent perfect, which means that there must be some challenges and issues you have to solve on your own while you are travelling. This would support you with your skills and confidence, for example, you’re in a new country and there’s nobody you know here, you might feel stressful and unfamiliar, but after you learned their culture and their languages, that would give you an precious experience and receive confidence, and while you go to another country you never been before, you may not feel that stress, and you’r adapting skill improves. Not only benefiting you, when others don’t know how to deal with it and only you can solve it, you would be seen as a helpful problem solver, that would be a double win situation.

Here are the two advantages of travelling, but everything have two sides, so now I’m going to say about disadvantage:

Cost, reasons for the people to travel may be a lot, and it cost a lot to go anywhere,  you need to prepare enough money to go reduce stress, but during your work time, you won’t be happy about it, and you may get mental health problems, so that’s one thing that would effect you, seond, while you’re enjoying your trip, you may feel comfortable and filling with happiness, but after this, you would be drag down to the true world which would make you feel more depress, you may ask”Why it’s so short? Life was so boring !” which would also harm yourself, so travelling may not be the best method for reducing your stress, and relax.

Based on these analysis, I dicuss about the good sides and the bad sides of travelling, however, it’s you’re the decision maker, so balance it, and these are all about what my stuff I want to talk about in the Seminar.

  1. Thanks for that. This part is interesting: “I prepared some of the informations, but actually not related to the questions which made me disappointed, which basically means that I ,Nicolas and Kim were all not prepared. ” Does this mean you prepared on behalf of other students too? Is there any reason why they couldn’t prepare for themselves?

Note that ‘evidence’ and ‘information’ are both uncountable.
You are using ‘run-on’ instead of sentences in places. This is most noticeable in your paragraph about the disadvantages- count how many sentences there are!! This is important because most high stakes English tests penalize such run-on.
Is there such a thing as ‘to speak perfectly’? Can you define that?
