  • AWL vocabulary is displayed in bold

There are two short reading passages below from two different websites that are accessible in China. The focus here should be on learning the vocabulary used for discussing your discipline but you can follow the links to find more information if you like 🙂

Animation is not just for cartoons anymore. From full-screen moving images to small hover effects, touches of animation are popping up everywhere. Animation is trendy, fun and user friendly.

And the obstacles to using animation have started to fall. With most users on high-speed connections and the ease of creating anything from simple movements or a silly gif to several minutes of action, animations have become practical and useful web design tools.

Animation is a powerful means of creating works that entertain, enlighten and amaze us. Students learn first-hand the techniques and principles of animation, which can include traditional hand-drawn pencil-and-paper animation through to computer-generated 2-D or 3-D animation. Throughout their studies, they look at how successful animators use the principles of animation as well as the elements of art and principles of design in their work.
